To the President

With an all-star cast from James Cromwell, Thandie Newton, Josh Brolin, Ioan Gruffudd, Ellen Burstyn and directed by Oliver Stone, "W." which chronicles the life and presidency of President George W. Bush. And unlike what seems to be the norm of poking fun at our current president, Stone's movie takes a serious look behind what drove the man to eventually follow his father's footsteps as the President of the United States of America. Freeman Troubles.....

Along with recovering from his recent car accident, actor Morgan Freeman is now dealing with a new set of issues. The actor's lawyers have confirmed that the 71 year old actor is divorcing his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee. Freeman who earlier denied reports of his unfaithfulness, was in the wreck with a female passenger who has been described as the actors friend. This was Freeman's second marriage, his first from 1967- 1978.

Morgan Freeman Remains in Serious Condition

AP reports Morgan Freeman Remains in Serious Condition following his earlier car wreck.

Metal Mania

This past Saturday, I had the chance to go to Rockstar Energy Drink's "Mayhem Festival" and it certainly lived up to the hype it received in the metal world. With bands like Suicide Silence, The Red Chord, 36 Crazyfists, Black Tide, Machine Head, Mastodon, Underoath, Disturbed and Slipknot and a few others... this concert was real mayhem. Being up front for those bands put a serious hurting on my back, but it was well worth it and I'd do it again. Unfortunately, bands like Dragonforce and Airbourne were also there, but overall not a bad lineup for this first time concert. The concert also had demo's by Metal Mulisha and Slipknot's DJ Sid Wilson (#0) as "DJ Starscream".  If we're lucky, next year's Fest will have bands like Hatebreed, Lamb Of God, or Job For A Cowboy.  Definitely plan on breaking my back again at those shows.

Box Office Batnanza

Once again The Dark Knight is tops at the box office with another $43.8 (M). Besides slightly edging the 3rd installment of the Mummy series, The caped crusading epic should top $400 (M) any day now and has to be considered a serious threat to dethrone Titanic as the number one box office draw of all time.

30 Days of Night the series

Ted Raimi, Ken Foree and Shawnee Smith are starring in the new series "30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust"; a spin off from the 2007 movie "30 Days of Night" with Josh Hartnett and a continuation of the straight to video "30 Days of Night: Blood Trails".

Box Office Bonanza : Bludgeoned by the Bat

The Dark Knight bested the competition once again racking up another 75(M) in its second weekend in release. Meanwhile, then new buddy comedy "Step Brothers" starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly posted a very strong second place, opening at 30(M). An impressive opening considering what it was up against. Very stiff competition still being provided by previous releases with patrons splitting their tickets among a very action oriented flicks, while the ladies continued to flock to "Mama Mia", leading to a very strong 3rd place finish. It'll be interesting to see whether "Step Brothers" can maintain their opening pace as the competition begins to wane over the next couple of weeks until the next wave of BlockBusters hits.

"The" Dark Knight

Despite having a phenomenal opening week for his new movie The Dark Knight, actor Christian Bale is busy with other things. Bale's new movie has broke box office records becoming the fastest movie to reach the $200 million mark in only six days, surpassing the previous record holder - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which accomplished the feat in eight days. And while Christian Bale's been promoting Dark Knight, he's also in the process of filming Terminator: Salvation directed by McG and due out in 2009. And that's where the problems come in. Apparently while promoting in England, Bale got into a "scuffle" his mother and his sister. Bale was arrested (though he claims he went voluntarily and no charges were made) and his family is claiming it was just a "family situation". Reports also say that while filming a scene in the new Terminator movie, Bale again lost his temper and started hurling insults at director of cinematography Shane Hurlbut. And despite rumors going around that his eight year marriage to Sandra Blazic are on the rocks, both Bale and his wife say their marriage is solid.
With any luck, Christian Bale will be able to straighten out this mess and keep his career of playing characters with a disturbed psyche (would explain a lot) on the fast track.
